Anxiety and Depression

You Have Already Reached a Verdict on Yourself

Somewhere inside all the worry, you came to a conclusion about yourself.

The verdict was that a stronger person would have handled this by now.

So you go back over your old failures.

That list is always close at hand.

Shame Is the Part You Cannot Argue Your Way Out Of

Guilt shows up first.

Shame is the one that stays, because it stops being about what you did and starts being about who you are.

By night, none of it lets go.

Rest turns into one more thing you are failing at.

Look at What You Were Given to Work With

There is another way to read all of this.

It has been my experience that anxiety and depression arrive together because they are two answers to the same pressure.

That pressure is usually a situation in your life right now that you do not have enough coping resources for.

You have been blaming your character for a shortage of resources.

Your Coping Resources Were Taught to You

Nobody is handed the full set of them.

You find out which ones you are missing when a situation finally asks for them.

A relationship ends, or a job does.

Then the demand outruns everything you have ever practiced.

Build the Resources This Situation Is Asking For

I start by giving you a room where nothing you say is weighed against you.

That part comes first, every time.

Then you and I look at what this situation is actually demanding of you.

And at what you have been meeting it with.

EMDR Is Here When You Want It

I am certified in EMDR.

When part of what is draining you belongs to something older, EMDR is what I turn to.

You will know exactly what it involves before you try it, and declining it costs you nothing here.

Plenty of this work is talking, and the talking does not stop.

Picture a Night That Gives You Rest

Your body settles at the end of the day.

Your thoughts go quiet without having to be talked out of anything.

The worry has somewhere to go now, so it stops circling you in the dark.

That is what enough resources feel like from the inside.

Imagine Being Less Critical of Yourself

The verdict you reached about yourself loosens its hold.

Your old failures stop being the first place your mind lands.

Your pleasure in things comes back to you.

Decide What Happens Next

The problems you are living with will not resolve on their own.

What happens next is the one piece of all this that is entirely your call.

Make that call, or send that email.

My number is (904) 254-8421, and my email is greatfrontierscs@gmail.com.

Your Nerves About Starting Therapy Make Sense

Talking about your stress and trauma with someone new is a scary thing to do, especially the first time.

I’ve sat in the client’s chair more than once myself, so I know how much that first call asks of you.

Call me at (904) 254-8421 or email greatfrontierscs@gmail.com for a free consultation. I’ll explain how EMDR works, and we can talk about the belief you’d most like to change.
